Q. What can I do about my neighbor's barking dog?
A. We always recommend trying to determine where the barking dog location is and attempting to make contact with its owner first. Often, a neighbor-to-neighbor approach is most appropriate and the first level towards gaining change. Next, is a phone call to the police department. Since it usually is not an emergency, call 772-9267, not 911, and ask for Animal Control. An Animal Control Officer will attempt to locate the owner and give them a verbal warning. Repeated calls for service will escalate the process ranging from a Departmental Report to a citation.

Q. If my dog has been lost, where should I call?
A. You may contact the Police Department and ask for Animal Control. All impounded dogs are transported to the Prescott Animal Control Center, located at 1605 Sundog Ranch in Prescott (928-778-7701). The center is open weekdays from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon. For service after normal business hours or on weekends and holidays, please call 928-445-3131.

Q. Where can I have my dog licensed?
A. Most veterinarians within of Prescott Valley carry our license registration information. You may also have your dog licensed at the Police Department and at the Prescott Animal Control Center, located at 1605 Sundog Ranch in Prescott. In addition, Petsmart and Petco stores have licensing paperwork.

Q. I suspect my neighbors are doing drugs. Who should I contact?
A. There are three answers. The first you may always call the Prescott Valley Police Department. We do not necessarily need your name. But we will need to have as much information as possible regarding the location, possible suspect names and type of activity. License plates are very helpful. You also contact Yavapai Silent Witness program 1-800-932-3232. Finally, the Partners Against Narcotics Trafficking (PANT) collects information about drug trafficking or manufacturing. The Prescott Valley Police Department participates in this task force by assigning a detective to this agency. PANT's phone number is 928-778-0558.

Q. What is the deal about noise complaints? What are the hours?
A. Town code concerning construction is from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Generally other noises such as yard work, band music, car repairs, power tools, etc., unless unreasonable in volume must terminate by 10:00 p.m. You are always welcome to call the police department and request an officer to check out the source of the noise.
